Modified Vehicle Requirements

If your vehicle complies with RROCK, WEROCK, or XRRA class specs, then your vehicle will be eligible to compete in MOROC. MOROC encourages teams to race in more than one series. If your vehicle does comply with the MOROC specs, it does not necessarily comply with the others. Use the links below for help.

MOROC Modified Vehicle requirements
A. The following are limitations for vehicles in the Stock class:
(Definition of stock: Mass production vehicles built for abuse.

1. Tires
a. Up to 35” tires measured from what reads on the tires.
b. Tires must be DOT approved.
f. Tire sipping must not exceed more than 50% of the tread.

2. Suspension
a. No coil-overs.
b. No air shocks
c. No limits to height.

3. Locking differentials
a. No restrictions apply.

4. Steering
a. Stock type steering components on one axle only.
b. Hi-steer applications are acceptable.
c. Hydro assist is permitted.
d. Full hydro steering is not permitted

5. Frame
a. Frame rails must be with out modifications.
b. Stock wheelbase is mandatory.
1. +/- 2” affiliated by lifts.

6. Body
a. Stock body and tub is mandatory.
b. Fiberglass tubs are permitted.
c. Stock uni-body construction is permitted.
d. The tub/cab must be free of excessive rust that could warrant concerns for safety.
e. Hood is required to cover the engine completely and must use proper working latches.
g. Plexiglas hoods and windshields are not permitted.
h. Vehicles must have stock type body panels. Minor trimming is permitted.
i. Vehicle must have floorboards.
k. Body mounts must be in good shape.
l. Windshields and doors can be removed.

7. Roll bars
a. Mandatory in all open topped vehicles.
b. 6-point roll cages are mandatory.
c. Sport cages bolted to the floor or the cowl are permitted.
d. Areas in which the roll bars are connected must be in good condition with minimal to no rust and must be tied down in a safe manor, using all necessary bolts.
e. Cages welded to the frame are encouraged.
1. All welds must be safe and secure.

8. Brakes
a. The brake pedal on the floor must operate all four brakes.
b. Cutting breaks are acceptable.

9. Bumpers

a. Bumpers must connect to right and left frame rails.

10. Engine and Drive Terrain
a. Engine and drive terrain must be free of leaks or fluids that pose a fire threat.
b. Turbos are permitted.
c. Superchargers are permitted.
d. Nitrous oxide is permitted. (Team must acquire PRO STATUS to run Nitrous)
e. Nitro methane, or alcohol-based fuels are not permitted.

11. Fuel System
a. Hand throttles must automatically return to the non-throttle position.
b. Fuel cells are permitted.
c. Vented gas caps are not approved.
d. Nitrous oxide is permitted. (Team must acquire PRO STATUS to run Nitrous)
e. Nitro methane, propane, or alcohol-based fuels are not permitted.
f. Vent tubes must attach to a fluid containment container.

12. Helmets
a. Helmets must cover at minimum 3/4 of head. Full-face helmets are encouraged.
b. Helmets with chinstraps are required
c. Dot approved helmets are mandatory for the driver and spotters.
d. Drivers and spotters are required to wear helmets at all times.

13. Seating
a. Vehicle must have 2 front adult seats that sit side by side.
b. Single seat configurations are not acceptable.
c. Suspension seats are strongly encouraged. They will be mandatory in 2009.
d. Seats can be mounted to the body. MOROC strongly encourages seats to be mounted to the frame.
e. Head rests are mandatory.

14. Seat Belts
a. Seat belts must be worn by both spotter and driver at all times.
b. Seat belts must be free of tears or cuts.
c. Seat belt attachments must be in safe working order.
d. Full body harnesses are encouraged, but not required.
e. Lap belts are not permitted. Minimum requirements are 3-point seatbelts.

15. Winches
a. Winches are mandatory.
b. All professionally built and sold electric, hydraulic, and power take off winches with a minimum single line pull ratings of 6,000 pounds or 2,000 pounds more than the vehicles weight are acceptable.
c. Both rope and wire winch cables are acceptable, but MOROC encourages using rope for safety.
d. Winches equipped with wire cable must have a winch weight in vehicle.
Winch weights must be bought as such. Coats, shirts, tow straps, etc; will not be allowed to be used as winch weights.
e. Vehicles must have a tree saver and a load rated shackle on board if the vehicle is equipped with a winch.
f. Vehicles must use stock mounting positions.

16. Fire Extinguisher
a. Two fire extinguishers are mandatory per vehicle.
b. They must be easily accessible.
c. They must be fully charged.
d. They must be easy to remove from their mounts.
e. One extinguisher must be in easy reach of driver.

17. First Aid Kit
a. It is mandatory for the vehicle to carry a first aid kit.

18. Stickers
a. MOROC will ask that all competitors run the event sponsor stickers on their vehicles, but it is not required.
b. There are no restrictions to competitors’ vehicle stickers.
c. All competitors must run 1 MOROC competitor sticker on each side of their vehicle. Stickers provided by MOROC.

19. Vehicle Numbers
a. Vehicle numbers must be displayed on the right and left sides of the vehicles.
b. All teams will either provide a team number or will be provided one. It is the competitor’s choice.
c. No two teams will have the same number.

20. Spotters
a. Teams are defined as drivers and spotters.
b. Spotters are required.
c. Spotters may ride inside the vehicle or walk the course.
d. Alternate spotters are encouraged. If a team member gets hurt, the alternate spotter can step in as drivers or spotter.

21. Safety wear
a. Neck braces are mandatory.
b. driver/spotter gloves are encouraged but not required.
c. MOROC encourages all teams to acquire PRO STATUS.

Additional recommendations for safety:

-ball valves should be installed on all fuel lines including vent lines.
-Synthetic rope instead of cable for safer winching activities.
-Bead lock rims are encouraged.
-6 point roll cage tied to frame.
-Seats mounted to the roll cage.
-At least a 4-point racing harness to protect driver and riding spotter.


Fees for 2008:

Event Fees
The entry fee for the Modified class is $50 per event if prepaid 2 weeks prior to the event or at a pre-registration event. The money collected, in either check or cash form, will be added to the event purse that will be 100% distributed between the winners. Distribution goes as follows.
First Place....... 50%
Second Place... 30%
Third Place...... 20%

In the event there are less than 4 teams in this class at any event, the payout will be as follows.

Only 2 teams competing
First Place....... 100%
Second Place... 0%

Only 3 teams competing
First Place....... 75%
Second Place... 25%
Third Place...... 0%


Late Registration Fees
If the team registers for the event onsite without prepaying additional fees apply. This fee is an additional $25.00 so the total will be $75.00. This fee collected helps MOROC cover trophy and team shirt costs.

Insurance Fees
Beginning in 2007 teams are required to buy death or dismemberment insurance through MOROC's insurance company. The fees are $5.00 per person per day. So it is an additional $20.00 per event for your team. Annual memberships will unfortunately no longer be offered. Teams who share drivers/spotters will have cheaper insurance costs

Series Fees
a. There is a $50 series fee for this class.
b. The series fee must be paid in full at or before the second event of the season.

c. Series fees are 100% payback to each series competitor who places in the top 3.

MOROC Extreme Off Road Racing

Series Name:

Midwest Extreme Woods Racing Championship Series

A five event series to be located at three different locations throughout the Midwest. Your team must compete in at least four of the five events to be eligible to win the series. The Midwest Championship event is a mandatory event. If your team chooses to compete in all five events, your worst time/points will be erased. If your team is planning to compete in the Midwest Championship Woods Racing Series, your team will be eligible to win contingency products and/or money provided by sponsors.

Contingencies:
To win the contingencies, your team must compete in the Series and place in the top three in each class. You must also put the contingency sponsors’ stickers on your vehicle to be eligible to win. Contingencies may consist of product and/or $$$.
